Photo and recording studio

I was invited to participate in a site specific audio visual festival in Croatia. As a publiclily funded artist in a small village, I was keen to contribute something to the community. Using skills developed via my art practice, I offered a free recording and photography service. The people could use the studio or a place of their choice and receive a recording or their photographs immediately. It was advertised in the village through flyers. A copy of all the recordings and the photographs were archived in the town hall. As an outsider the process allowed me to meet and interact with the locals. This involved all generations and was a lot of fun. It gave snapshots of intimate moment in some villagers lives and what was significant to them at that time.
For example one couple asked to be photographed on their 50th wedding anniversary, the school children recorded the songs from their end of year show and the lady ringing the bell asked to be photographed holding the church’s keys.
